California Quarry Shooting: Two Dead, Six Wounded

An employee of a quarry opened fire during a company safety meeting today, killing two and wounding six before escaping, officials and witnesses said.

Shareef Allman, 45, reportedly then left the meeting and began walking around the grounds of the quarry. He reportedly went in the direction of the Hewlett-Packard campus where a man matching his description shot a woman in the leg before attempting to carjack her vehicle, according to ABC's San Francisco affiliate KGO-TV.

The suspect fled on foot from the attempted carjacking and used a weapon similar to the one used at the quarry, according to the Associated Press.

Police said they are surrounding a house in nearby Sunnyvale and are evacuating the neighborhood.

Colleagues at the Hanson Permanente quarry in Cupertino described Allman as a disgrunteld employee.
He is armed with an automatic rifle and a handgun, officials said.

Most of the wounded are in critical condition. Santa Clara County sheriff's officials have told KGO-TV that two people died and six are seriously injured.   Read More
