Thugs who swear at the police must be punished: Calls for Clarke's ban on arresting abusive yobs to be scrapped


Boris Johnson and Britain’s most senior policeman have declared war on Justice Secretary Ken Clarke’s refusal to act to punish yobs who hurl obscenities at police.

The London Mayor says secret guidance to police telling them not to arrest foul-mouthed louts who abuse them in vile terms makes a mockery of attempts to boost law and order in the wake of the summer riots.

And his demand to scrap the guidance is supported by new no-nonsense Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe.   Read More
